Student Ministry

"At First Baptist, our student ministry exists to help students develop a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We do this through building faith, relationships, biblical knowledge, and the opportunity to serve locally and globally."

The Student Ministry of FBC Salisbury is named OASIS. We have adopted this name to illustrate our desire to be a life giving place of renewal, rest, and growth in the desert that can be the Middle and High School culture. Adult leaders who love students and a great batch of student leaders make this truly a team ministry. We meet in the First Ministry Center in a very nice area that was just recently renovated to give us excellent facilities.students - new mexico-web

oasis logoOur OASIS meeting (Wednesday nights @ 6:30) is a great time to be with friends. We incorporate sessions from series such as NOT A FAN, CRAZY LOVE, THE FRONTIER BOYS, and other special studies with games and challenge/encouragement for a night of fun, meaningful study and great Christian fellowship. Sunday Mornings we have excellent Small Group Bible studies using outstanding, exciting materials and caring, committed and prepared teachers. The discussion times with other students in these groups are helpful in making our group a true Oasis in hard times. We have a praise band entirely made up of students and we rehearse most Sunday nights @ 5 p.m. in our "Rooftop Room" of our student ministry area. We also have a LEADERSHIP MEETING monthly on designated Sunday nights @ 6:15. This eclectic time of study challenges students (and some adults) to grow deeper in our faith and be leaders as Christ leads us.

Each month we have at least one special event. During the summer we have special summer activities usually including: Trail Bike rides, Lake days, laser tag, pool parties and more. Some of our annual events include DiscipleNow (a great "in town retreat") which is truly life changing, "Fun On The Farm", Jan-Jam (an area YOUTH PRAISE BAND music festival) which is attended by hundreds of students and is a blast. We also have Ski retreats (Middle and High school go as separate groups), Student-led worship services for the whole church, CASWELL (a most excellent week long retreat), and our annual High School Mission Trip. All of these events are designed to help students grow in their faith, be a chance for those who do not yet know Jesus be introduced to him through the messages and fellowship of these events, and to strengthen the group as individuals are strengthened. If you have any questions or want more information for any event, please feel free to contact Brian or the church office.
